Presentation from Luis Benítez‑Alicea “Benny”, of Oregon OSHA

Events 1Luis Benítez‑Alicea is an Occupational Safety Consultant with Oregon OSHA. His background includes civil engineering and service in the U.S. Navy as a nuclear mechanic and radiological controls technician. He began at Oregon OSHA as a Safety Compliance Officer focused on protecting employees from occupational hazards and now serves as an Occupational Safety Consultant, partnering with employers and business owners across Oregon to help keep employees safe and maintain compliance with occupational safety and health regulations. Bilingual: Spanish and English.

 

Benny will be presenting on: Heat Illness Prevention & Wildfire Smoke Protection

Heat Illness Prevention training focuses on educating workers and employers about the risks associated with heat exposure. Recognizing symptoms, preventive measures, emergency response, and OSHA’s requirements.

The Wildfire Smoke training focuses on the health risks posed by wildfire smoke, how to protect workers from its adverse effects and OR-OSHA’s requirements.

 

There will also be a Q&A session at the end, so our members can ask specific questions.

For over 20 years, Ralph Bloemers has worked with scientists, tribes, conservation groups throughout the Pacific Northwest on the conservation of our forests, including burned landscapes.

He has investigated the causes of fires, documented wildlife and recovery in burned landscapes, and worked to help communities prepare for more fire in a hotter, drier world.
